For one of my classes, we were tasked as a group to create a new belay device. We wanted to create something that would auto lock if someone would take a fall. It took us a couple of tries to get the slot correct. We finally got the shape we wanted had it cut out and anodized. I finished mine with rivets and machined bushings.
